FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 26, 2026
Celebrating 110 years of adventure, BMECC brings pirate treasures, Halloween treats, and an invitation to discover the great outdoors.
HAMBURG, PA — Ahoy, Hamburg! The Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club (BMECC) is ready to hoist the sails, raise the Jolly Roger, and chart a course through downtown Hamburg for the 62nd Annual King Frost Parade on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
Returning to this beloved community tradition, BMECC members will trade their hiking boots for pirate hats as they take to the streets aboard a pirate ship float, complete with a treasure chest filled with sweet surprises. Paradegoers can look forward to chocolate gold coins, Halloween candy, and a chance to learn more about one of the region's longest-standing outdoor clubs.
With parade committee chair Claude Davis at the helm, club members are preparing a swashbuckling celebration designed to bring smiles to families while sharing their love of hiking, adventure, and community.
And while there may be gold aboard the pirate ship, BMECC knows that the real treasure lies along the trail: fresh air, beautiful scenery, lasting friendships, and the joy of exploring the outdoors together.
Founded in 1916, BMECC celebrates its 110th anniversary this year. For more than a century, the club has brought outdoor enthusiasts together through group hikes, conservation efforts, and volunteer service. Its members also help maintain approximately 65 miles of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania, preserving a treasured outdoor resource for future generations.
But you don't need a treasure map, a pirate's compass, or even years of hiking experience to join the adventure.
BMECC invites community members to come along on a hike! The club offers a variety of organized hikes throughout the year, providing opportunities to explore new trails, meet fellow outdoor enthusiasts, and discover the natural beauty of Pennsylvania and beyond.
Getting started is easy: Visit www.bmecc.org, check the club's hiking calendar for an upcoming adventure, and contact the listed hike leader to sign up. Whether you're an experienced trailblazer or just beginning to explore the outdoors, there's a place for you in the BMECC crew.
The 62nd Annual King Frost Parade begins at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, in downtown Hamburg. BMECC looks forward to sharing some Halloween treasure with spectators and introducing new friends to the adventures waiting just beyond their doorsteps.
So keep an eye out for the pirate ship, grab a bit of treasure, and remember: The best adventures aren't found on a treasure map — they're found on the trail!
